Advice for stay at home Dads

Url Hi we do leave Dads out a bit here so here is oen for you written by no other than Dad - the coach for Dads.

It depends on the type of work they do.  Some Dads like me work at home on an ad-hoc basis whilst other work at home 5 days a week. Fundamentally, my reason for working from home is about life balance and cups of tea.

    Let me explain

If I do work from home on a specific day I try and arrange my schedule to suit.  i.e. first meeting at 9:30am so I can do the school run, time to gym it at lunch, read some documents, pick the kids up, sit down for dinner, schedule evening calls.

Cups of tea … well, speaks for itself, I get to brew  a proper tea whenever I want.

smoothies are twice as good as we thought

Promo_sotm_08_05 Just found this on the Innocent website so thought I would share it.

It isn't often that smoothies hit the front pages of the national newspapers. So we were very excited to see some research that we'd been involved with appearing on the front pages of the Telegraph today. A very sensible and clever nutritionist called Dr Carrie Ruxton has done some extensive research into the world of smoothies. And it is her view that the government should review its guidelines and declare them as two portions. Hence the twice as good headline.

When Things are Going Wrong with Your Teenager

Not_been_listened_tosmall Just found that I am featured on Marnie Pehrson's blog so I thought I would share it with you.

    1. Stop! How are you judging your teenager? What perception do you have of them? What is getting in the way? Before you even open your mouth, ask yourself how you want to see this person. Do you want to see another troublesome teenager or do you want to see your wonderful son or daughter who still desperately needs your support and guidance?

    Talking Grades

Exam_guide_3d_master As you know I have just spent a couple of months with some very high-achieving boys, coaching them to make the most of their exams and the options before them. Let me tell you it was not easy, to say the least. These boys are the top 2% of the country, are quick, know all the tricks and firmly believe they will be fine, no matter what. I am always reminded when I work with young people that you can never really tell what is landing, going in and what is not. We covered most of the things I go through in my e-book for parents and some days I just as if I was not having the impact I wanted. However, Monday was the last day with them, so I asked them to tell me what they had got out of our time together and they astounded me

“I am studying 7 times more then I would of without this course!”

“You made me realise that I did not want the last four years of my life to be for nothing.”

“You helped me make a choice to be a success.”

“You helped me understand my learning style. I don’t know why they don’t teach that at school.”

“I now know why I am studying and I want to do it.”

“You have motivated me to do my best.”

Well as always, teenagers amaze me. It just reminds me of what I say to coaches and parents I work with – sometimes, when you think it is going in, it isn’t and when you think it isn’t, it probably is!

Where is the place you feel most at home?

Img_0568 I am so lucky; I live very close to what must be, I believe, one of the most beautiful places in the world.  I love being in this space, it help me connect with nature and remember what I am all about. I am so sure that this supports me in being a much better parent.  I was talking to the amazing Jamie on my radio show and I remember her saying that everyone needs an out, just like breathing and this place is my out – my time to relax, exhale and rejuvenate.

So my question to you is, when and when do you exhale? Where do you take a long your breath? Which place do you go to re-charge? Where is your spiritual home, the place you feel most at home? See the rest of the pictures at facebook.
